Our study uses human ratings of verb-directobject-tool triplets from Reddit data to investigate whether, in internet discourse, people tend to mention atypical tools more than typical tools in tool-use scenarios, in line with the TELL IT LIKE IT ISN’T theory that people are more inclined to mention newsworthy information.
