CV
My career path has been wildly eclectic. I used to work in Russia and I was a chartered accountant for a while. I left that to pursue human knowledge and get into research. I thought I wanted to find the neural basis of consciousness (how can matter have subjective experience? etc.) but I got funding to instead study the computational basis of how the human mind represents causality. Now I see the impulse to know more about how the human mind works was just a raft or case study to get me into computing.
Now I’m looking for an application for my causal modelling skills. I’m happy to leave questions of how the mind works to my free time because I don’t think computational methods are the best methods for that (meditation is better). Instead I want to solve real, complex problems through data science, perhaps in health economics or healthcare.
I’m looking to join a start-up or other company for one day a week, starting in January 2025, and ll be looking for a new job in September 2025. If you have any ideas I’d love to hear from you.
